What Is The Gospel?

When Jesus began his preaching ministry, he said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15). The gospel is the “good news” about what the Son has done for sinners. He took on human nature and lived a perfect life. He became a perfect substitute sacrifice for sinners who deserve the wrath of God. He rose from the dead and is exalted at the right hand of the Father (Philippians 2:5-11).

God calls us all to respond to this news by repenting and believing in Jesus. The time has come. Today is the day of salvation (Hebrews 4:6-13). Repentance is turning from all known sin and turning to God through Christ Jesus. Faith is a whole-hearted trust in him that relies on him alone for salvation and a right standing with God. Your works and good deeds cannot save you; only Christ can. Your spiritual resolve and even your prayers cannot save you; only Christ can. Look to him alone. Repent and believe in Jesus, the Messiah.
